ARTIST
ON STAGE
Hailed for her "fantastic high notes" (IOCO Online), her "rich and bright voice" and her "cherubic, otherworldly strong intensity" (Hamburger Abendblatt) the German-french lyric-coloratura soprano from Munich is quickly making a name for herself in the opera world.
For the seasons 23/24 and 24/25 she will be a soloist in the ensemble of the STAATSTHEATER KASSEL. She will make her debut as Frasquita (Carmen), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), OpheliaDouble1/Marx (Hamletmaschine), Despina (Cosi fan tutte) and Ariel (The Tempest) among others, as well as presenting herself in a world premiere in cooperation with the Munich Biennale 2024.
In the season 2022/23 she performed as a guest soloist in several roles at the DEUTSCHE OPER AM RHEIN DÜSSELDORF (Adele/Fledermaus & Waldvogel/Siegfried), at the STATE OPERA HAMBURG (Barbarina/Nozze di Figaro & Sophia/Silvesternacht – world premiere) as well as at the THEATER LÜBECK (Adele jump-in/Fledermaus).
From 2020-2022, Ms. Ryckmanns was a member of the renowned INTERNATIONAL OPERA STUDIO at STATE OPERA HAMBURG and a scholarship recipient of the KÖRBER STIFTUNG. Her debut on the main stage was a collaboration with musical director Kent Nagano and opera director Georges Delnon on Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire Op. 21 alongside Anja Silja and Nicole Chevalier.
In May 2021, Ms. Ryckmanns played the main role of Sophie Scholl in the newly invented genre Graphic Opera Weisse Rose by Udo Zimmermann – under the musical direction of Nicholas André and directed by David Bösch – on the famous experimental stage OPERA STABILE of STATE OPERA HAMBURG – Project partners were the European cultural channel ARTE and the German Federal Agency for Civic Education. The Graphic Opera Weisse Rose was awarded two prizes in 2021: The GOLDEN PRAGUE INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION FESTIVAL PRIZE and the HAMBURG THEATRE AWARD ROLF MARES.
Particularly as a short-term stand-in, Ms. Ryckmanns stands out for her quick and precise rehearsals, flexibility, and strong nerves: Thus she was able to successfully share the stage with artists such as Christian Gerhaher in Schumann's Szenen nach Goethe's Faust (role: Sorge, et. al.) at the STATE OPERA HAMBURG under the direction of musical director Kent Nagano.
Her repertoire continues to include roles such as Waldvogel (Siegfried), Blonde (Entführung aus dem Serail), Giannetta (Elisir d'amore), Una Sacerdotessa (Aida), Schleppträgerin (Elektra), Viktoria (Fucking Åmål), Junger Hirt (Tannhäuser), et.al.
Already during her studies at the UNIVERSITY MOZARTEUM SALZBURG, Marie-Dominique Ryckmanns could be seen in the roles of Tytania (A Midsummer Night's Dream) by Benjamin Britten as well as Olympia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann) by J. Offenbach. As an adolescent she already appeared on stage with the JUNGES THEATER GÄRTNERPLATZ MÜNCHEN.
